Have you been told that you snore a little or a lot? Did anyone ever tell you that you gasp, choke and struggle for air while you sleep? We may be able to help you get a better night’s sleep and feel better during the day.
Snoring and “sleep apnea,” the name of a medical condition wherein a person stops breathing temporarily during sleep, occur because the muscles in the back of the throat loosen too much while a person sleeps. This collapses the tissues around the throat and the airway is partly or, at times, fully obstructed. The tongue may slip to the back of the throat and no air can pass.
When you can’t get enough air during sleep, your entire body is stressed. This stress disrupts your sleep and contributes to severe illnesses like diabetes and heart disease. The sooner this condition can be alleviated, the better.
